Goodbye [Newsweek] Zakaria
“I’m addressing you
Are you going to let our emotional life be run by Newsweek Magazine?
I’m obsessed by Newsweek Magazine
I read it every week.”
OOPS, DID I just mess Ginsberg’s America up? I am sorry, Allen, that’s just how I feel about Newsweek, I have been reading it for years. When I went to a bookstore, I mostly checked Newsweek and Time. I don’t know, despite what some people said about Newsweek of being a bit sensational, I always got reasons to buy it.
It is obvious that I am a fan of Fareed Zakaria. Remembering that he’s one of the International editors sitting in Newsweek’s newsroom, editing stuff and writing columns, making me trust Newsweek. Of course, the credits did not go to Zakaria alone, just mostly.
Hence, it’s very sad to know that Zakaria is leaving Newsweek for Time. I’ve been a loyal reader to Newsweek because of him. It was him that making me screened each page of both Newsweek and Time every week. There were times when I ended up buying Time — when they really got totally different and better stuffs.
One of my Newsweek magz, October 2008. Zakaria wrote a piece on capitalism.
Sure we could access both articles on their websites, and voila, get both of them freely. But still, when I went to a bookstore, I still buy one. Now, without Zakaria in Newsweek I think I have lost some of the “Newsweek excitement” I have.
Not that I don’t read Time, I have several favorite writers in Time including Joel Stein, Joe Klein, and Nancy Gibbs. But that what hurts me even more! With Zakaria joining Time, now all the witty writers I love are sailing on the same boat! Now I could only find Zakaria and Stein in one magazine.
Whatever happens in Newsweek with its new owner, I just want to say that I am sad because by now I would only have a single choice: TIME! Because my [almost the only] reason of reading Newsweek is jumping to Time [not to mention that many other great journalist are also moving out from Newsweek].
I learn that readers love a qualified media organization, but they love choices even more! I think it’s unfair for readers to find their favorite writers working for the same publication. Turns out it’s not so good to have all your favorite things under one roof… I could only wish both Zakaria and Newsweek the best of luck.

maybe Zakaria couldnt stand the new owner and decide its better to move from his old place? whats the gossips about this?
